Move over, Hollywood—there’s a new multi-hyphenate in town. Elijah Wright is rapidly becoming the name on everyone’s lips, effortlessly bridging the gap between gritty prestige television and the high-stakes world of cinema. While many first caught a glimpse of him in the 2010 sports rom-com Just Wright, he has recently surged into the spotlight with a breakout television debut in the hit crime drama Godfather of Harlem. Playing the recurring role of Jerome Greene in the show’s fourth season, Wright has earned praise for bringing a sense of depth and unpredictability to a character navigating the complex streets of 1960s New York.

The momentum doesn’t stop at the small screen. Wright recently made waves on the international stage with his role in Spike Lee’s neo-noir thriller Highest 2 Lowest, a reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low. Playing the character Kyle Christopher, a high schooler at the center of a high-stakes kidnapping plot, Wright delivers a performance that balances raw vulnerability with a commanding screen presence. Acting opposite his real-life father, Jeffrey Wright, as well as icons like Denzel Washington and A$AP Rocky, Elijah has proven he is far more than just a “legacy” actor—he is a formidable talent in his own right.

As if conquering the screen wasn’t enough, Wright is also establishing himself as a rising force in the R&B scene. His musical discography is growing as fast as his IMDb page, with a string of soulful singles that have captured fans’ attention. From the smooth vibes of “SWEET MELODY” (featuring Ganesh) and “Life on the Moon” to more recent 2025 releases like “Dead of Night” and “Dreams,” his music showcases a sophisticated, atmospheric sound. Whether he’s delivering a nuanced performance on Apple TV+ or dropping a new track on Apple Music, Elijah Wright is clearly an artist who refuses to be put in a box.

He’s better than I thought he would be. Few 2nd gen actors really take it serious.
