Just one year after solidifying their international presence with their acclaimed second album, Sketches of the Moon, the Berlin-based psych rock trio Atomic Fruit is already preparing their next cosmic leap. The band—comprising Martin Lundfall (Sweden), Raphaël Giraldi (France), and Federico Lenzi (Italy)—is set to release their visionary new single, “Hit The Ground,” next Friday, October 10th, a first taste of their eagerly awaited third studio record, due in 2026. Formed serendipitously in 2021 after a chance meeting at a SUUNS concert, Atomic Fruit has swiftly become a staple of the Berlin underground scene, admired for their sophisticated sound rooted in 70s rock masters and contemporary experimentation. Their new single proves they are continuing to push boundaries, blending the classic with the avant-garde.
The Enigmatic Vortex of “Hit The Ground”
“Hit The Ground” is far more than a simple track; it’s a hypnotic journey into an enigmatic vortex of sound. The song begins with predominantly acoustic tones before synthetic shades with a krautrock flavor emerge, setting a driving, motorik pulse. Shoegaze textures and psychedelic magic layer atop, creating an immersive, stratified soundscape.
Frontman Martin Lundfall’s psychedelic vocals float among the layers, guiding the listener through an exploration of contrasts. The song is suspended between an inescapable urban unease and a deep-seated urge to escape. It’s a journey that challenges traditional song form, deconstructing itself in favor of sudden sonic turns and dark tunnels where a dim light finally appears.
The atmosphere is described as desert-like and rarefied, evoking the cinematic poetics of David Lynch and the sonic influence of SUUNS. Lundfall explains the track’s core tension: “’Hit The Ground’ is about the clutter that builds up in your head when living in the city. An endless noise of desires, deadlines and ambitions running through your mind like traffic. You dream of a simpler life. Out in nature, daydreaming, studying the trajectories of bumblebees and migratory birds.”

The single is released in tandem with an official music video, personally crafted by Lundfall. The visuals utilize collages of imaginary landscapes and the parallax effect, where shifting and transforming scenery mirrors the song’s suspended, visionary dimension.
To celebrate the release and mark the beginning of their new album cycle, Atomic Fruit will immediately embark on a European tour. They will be joined by Munich-based rock band Digital Carbs—with whom they released the collaborative track “Up and Away” in June 2025—for a run of shows across Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, and Italy.
With “Hit The Ground,” Atomic Fruit confirms that their blend of kraut pulses, shoegaze textures, and psychedelic magic has everything it takes to once again enchant the underground scene while preparing the groundwork for their highly anticipated third record. Fans should track the band’s social media for further tour updates and a first listen to what promises to be one of the most compelling psych-rock releases of the year.
