In the vibrant, restless heart of Lagos, Gvin Champp is crafting a sonic legacy that refuses to be confined by borders or genres. Born Igiri George Oheji in 1998, this singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist has emerged as a formidable force in the Nigerian music scene, blending the rhythmic pulse of Afrobeats with the emotional depth of Afrosoul and R&B. His music is more than just a crossover of sounds; it is a raw, unfiltered reflection of his life’s journey, driven by a mission to inspire and a signature hashtag that serves as his North Star: #NoPainNoGain. This philosophy isn’t just a marketing slogan—it is a creed forged in the fires of a challenging upbringing where resilience was the only currency that mattered.

The roots of Gvin’s artistry are buried deep in the soil of perseverance. Growing up in a household where financial stability was a constant battle, Gvin witnessed firsthand the grit required to survive. After his father, a lab technologist, lost his job in 2012, his mother stepped into the roles of both a local orthopaedist and a commercial farmer to keep the family afloat. These formative experiences of struggle and sacrifice are the invisible threads woven into his lyrical themes of hope and ambition. While many artists chase the aesthetic of the “struggle,” Gvin lived it, and that authenticity is precisely why his music—a melting pot of Afropop and atmospheric production—resonates so deeply with a global audience.

Gvin’s path to the spotlight required a leap of faith that most would find daunting. While studying Library and Information Science at Tai Solarin University of Education, he realized that his true calling wasn’t cataloging books, but rather documenting the human spirit through song. Pausing his studies to pursue music full-time, he quickly proved his mettle with his debut single, “IMPORTANT.” The track, which has already surpassed 10,000 streams on Spotify, serves as a masterclass in fusing introspective storytelling with vibrant, infectious production. This early success caught the attention of major international outlets, leading to a feature on Billboard via the Hit-Boy Beat Exchange and coverage from tastemakers like Vocalo 91.1 FM Chicago and TheChrdMag Los Angeles.

Now operating as a fully independent artist after a stint with Bentley Records, Gvin Champp is gearing up for his most ambitious project yet: the 7EVEN EP, set for release on February 27, 2026. Built around the sacred symbolism of the number seven—representing completion, divine order, and rebirth—the EP is designed as a “sonic meditation.” Through four tracks, Gvin explores the human experience through four wandering archetypes: The Thinker, The Seeker, The Mystic, and The Introspective. Each song serves as a gateway into a broader spiritual framework, inviting the listener to journey inward and find clarity amidst the chaos of the modern world.

With 7EVEN, Gvin Champp is leaning into his vulnerability like never before, expressing internal conflicts and self-realization that bridge the gap between the “dancer and the dreamer.” As he aims for the top of the global charts, his mission remains centered on authentic Nigerian storytelling. By using sound as a vessel for empathy and spiritual awakening, Gvin is proving that while the pain of the past may have shaped him, his music is the ultimate gain. He isn’t just aiming to be a star; he’s aiming to be the voice that helps his listeners find their own way back to themselves.
