Tuning Into the Future: Ant Chulo and the New Sound of Virginia Beach
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Virginia Beach has long been a sacred ground for musical innovation. It’s the city that gave the world the futuristic bounce of Pharrell Williams and the gravity-defying rhythms of Timbaland. Growing up in the shadow of these legends, artist and producer Ant Chulo didn’t just listen to the history of his hometown—he studied its fearless DNA. Today, he is translating that legacy into a bold, boundary-pushing sound that refuses to be boxed in.

Fusing elements of pop, alt-R&B, and hip-hop, Ant Chulo’s artistry is defined by a rare versatility. It’s a sound that feels technically sophisticated yet emotionally grounded, driven by a natural charisma that bridges the gap between the producer’s desk and the vocal booth.

The Pulse of “THE FREQUENCIES (PART II)”

His latest release, “THE FREQUENCIES (PART II),” serves as a definitive statement for his first single of the year. The track is an atmospheric deep dive into rhythm and feeling, acting as a “hypnotic breakup banger” that balances post-breakup introspection with dancefloor-ready energy.

Where Part I laid the groundwork, Part II pushes into new territory—blending melodic R&B flows with deep-house pulses. It’s a sonic experiment that captures the limbo of modern romance: the “bittersweet feeling of a voicemail you want to send but never do,” wrapped in a beat that demands movement.

A Legacy of Experimentation

Ant Chulo’s musical upbringing was a masterclass in variety. Influenced by everything from the soul of Mary J. Blige and the lyricism of Nas to the indie-electronic textures of M83 and Toro y Moi, his palette is vast. He cites foundational albums like Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak, Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon, and N.E.R.D’s Seeing Sounds as the blueprints for his own journey.

Like the trailblazers before him, Ant Chulo is more interested in creating new lanes than following existing ones. As he prepares for his upcoming project, The Ant Chulo Experience, Vol. I: The Introduction, it’s clear that he isn’t just chasing fame—he’s chasing the perfect frequency.

“Ant Chulo is carving out his own lane—one frequency at a time.”
