Get Spooky, Get Powerful: Laura Pieri’s Halloween Takeover is a Pop-Rock Reclamation
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Forget basic carved pumpkins—rising pop artist Laura Pieri is celebrating the spooky season by channeling the ultimate Halloween energy: the powerful, unafraid woman. The São Paulo-born, NYC-based singer has launched a brilliant Halloween-themed cover series that isn’t just about costumes; it’s a bold creative project celebrating women who refuse to be silenced or stuffed into a neat little box.

This isn’t your average seasonal playlist. Pieri is reclaiming the female archetypes long deemed “too much”—too dramatic, too intense, too free—and giving them a fierce new soundtrack.

The Vampire is Eternal

The series kicked off this week with Pieri’s haunting reinterpretation of Lady Gaga’s “Marry the Night,” available now on her YouTube channel. For Pieri, the song and the vampire archetype were a perfect match.

“The vampire made perfect sense with ‘Marry the Night’: the kiss of the vampire is eternal, it’s a kind of marriage,” Pieri shares. “Lady Gaga has always lived in that fantasy; she’s a vampire woman, powerful and unafraid of the dark.”

Pieri strips the pop anthem down to its core, adding a raw, live texture that taps into her Brazilian identity. Her aim was to let the darkness sound human and alive. The result is a haunting, mesmerizing take that’s far removed from a typical cover, transforming the track into a smoky, sophisticated invitation into the night.

More Than Music: A Multidisciplinary Vision

Throughout October, Pieri will drop three distinct covers, each paired with a unique persona. To deepen the experience, she’s launched a Substack where she’s penning a story for each character, starting with The Vampire, The Bride of Gravenholt. It’s proof that Pieri is a true multidisciplinary artist, deeply immersed in both the sound and the visual world of her projects. She doesn’t just sing the song; she builds the entire world around it.

This whole new era of artistry follows the release of Frankie (ON THE DANCEFLOOR), the high-octane counterpart to her acclaimed 2024 EP, Frankie. That project saw Pieri transforming her own story of survival into an exhilarating celebration—a theme she continues as she channels powerful, celebratory darkness this month.

The Ultimate Treat on Halloween Night

The entire spine-tingling series culminates on October 31 with the release of a brand-new original single. It’s the ultimate treat from an artist who continues to carve a distinct path in pop, earning her buzz in outlets like FLAUNT and Mundane Magazine.

For Laura Pieri, music has always been simply part of her identity. This Halloween, she’s proving that embracing the dark, the dramatic, and the delightfully powerful is not only essential to her art, but a necessary tonic for the rest of us. Grab your headphones, read her Substack, and get ready to live your best, most powerful vampire life this season.
