The resurgence of Mouse Sucks is a testament to the grit often found in the Scarborough underground. After a harrowing car crash late last year sidelined the Canadian rapper and producer, many wondered when his distinctive sonic thumbprint would resurface. Those questions have been answered with the arrival of “KEEP UP,” a track that serves as both a victory lap and a promise of what is to come. While the injury forced a period of physical healing, it clearly didn’t dampen his creative momentum, as this new release marks a significant milestone in his journey toward a highly anticipated EP.

What makes “KEEP UP” particularly compelling is Mouse’s decision to pivot slightly, leaning heavily into his production prowess rather than staying strictly behind the microphone. This shift allows for a masterful display of technical synergy as he reunites with co-producer Drum Fu. The duo has not shared production credits since their previous collaboration on “CAN,” and the chemistry between them has only sharpened with time. The soundscape they’ve crafted here provides the perfect canvas for a reunion of the Children Playing Records family, featuring standout contributions from frequent collaborators Ish Amir and Big Brody Ode.

This collaborative spirit has been the hallmark of Mouse’s career since his early days making music in college. Drawing initial inspiration from the eclectic styles of Party Supplies and the emotive vulnerability of Kid Cudi, he quickly realized that his true strength lay in the intersection of production and partnership. Previous projects like icantsweem and SUGARLOAF established his reputation for looping in his favorite creators to build something larger than the sum of its parts. “KEEP UP” continues that tradition, acting as a cohesive bridge between his experimental past and his refined future.

Looking ahead, the road to the finish line is paved with familiar sounds and fresh perspectives. The upcoming EP is set to feature “KEEP UP” alongside recent favorites such as “INSECURE” and “YRB.” Furthermore, Mouse plans to integrate original tracks from his prolific 2025 single packs—songs that fans previously heard as remixes or alternate versions—into the final project. As he puts the finishing touches on this body of work, “KEEP UP” stands as a bold reminder that while momentum can be interrupted, true talent is impossible to sideline.
