From the Smoke, a Soul Ignites: Seth Tabatznik’s ‘Awakening Embers’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

There is a specific kind of alchemy that happens when a London-born songwriter finds his heartbeat in the rugged peaks of South Africa’s Western Cape. For Seth Tabatznik, this geographical and spiritual shift has birthed more than just music; it has cultivated a movement.

Since his debut in 2024, Tabatznik has moved with a quiet, unstoppable momentum. With over 200,000 streams under his belt and sold-out shows from the intimate Green Note in Camden to the sprawling Boschendal Estate in Cape Town, he is no longer just a “rising” name—he is a definitive voice in the indie-folk landscape.

The Evolution of Sound

On February 20, 2026, Tabatznik unveils his sophomore effort, Awakening Embers, via Moth Music (Mother Of The Heart). While his first record was a home-grown labor of love, this new project sees Seth stepping into the studio for the first time—a move that has elevated his “medicine music” to cinematic heights.

“I don’t have many regrets in life, but after hearing the sound of this album… I really wish I had recorded the first album in there,” Seth admits with a laugh. “It was one of those processes that just emerged from a flow state effortlessly, like it wanted to be born.”

Mentored by the Mercury Prize-nominee Nick Mulvey and guided by guitar virtuoso Rainer Scheurenbrand, the album bridges the gap between the terrestrial and the divine. Fans of Ben Howard and Gregory Alan Isakov will find a familiar warmth here, yet Seth’s synthesis of ancient wisdom and modern folk is entirely his own.

Focus Track: ‘Pacha Mama’

Landing alongside the album is the focus track ‘Pacha Mama’, a gentle sonic caress that serves as the record’s spiritual anchor. The track unfurls with Seth’s signature silken vocals—delivery that is smooth yet weighted with intent—supported by the grounding presence of earthy percussion, where steady drums and rhythmic shakers mimic a primal heartbeat. This sonic landscape provides the perfect canvas for the track’s lyrical depth, weaving a profound narrative of transformation and growth that resonates long after the final note. From the hymnal opening of ‘Dear Nature’ to the global, poetic tapestry of the closer ‘We Are Walking Home’, the album is a cohesive 10-track journey through healing and unity, offering a sanctuary of sound for the modern listener.

An Immersive Launch

To celebrate the release, Seth is taking the music back to the soil. On February 20, he will perform on the Forest Stage at the renowned Retreat Yourself Festival.

However, the true centerpiece of the launch arrives on March 14 and 15 at Boschendal Farm. This curated, immersive event in the heart of the winelands will feature live performances intertwined with storytelling elements, designed to pull the audience into the “flow state” where these songs began. With limited capacity, this isn’t just a concert; it’s an invitation to witness the embers catch fire.
