Swedish-born, LA-based musician Olovson has long been the industry’s secret weapon, lending his cinematic genius to Grammy-winning productions for icons like Frank Ocean, Dua Lipa, and Mark Ronson. Known primarily for his emotive and elegant piano compositions, Olovson has now returned with his sophomore album, UNTANGLE, released on November 19th, 2025, via his own imprint, 1136 Diamond.
This project marks a profound shift for the composer. Following the instrumental success of his 2022 debut, Storytelling—which boasts over 3 million streams and praise from Rolling Stone India, Wonderland Magazine, and BBC Radio 6—Olovson is now opening a deeply personal chapter by placing his own voice at the center for the first time.

A Kaleidoscope of Sound
UNTANGLE is not just an album; it’s a sonic odyssey that shatters genre constraints while preserving the nuanced, cinematic sensitivity that defines Olovson’s work. The project glides effortlessly across a breathtaking sonic palette: from tactile ambient electronica and lo-fi R&B, to jazz-laced impressionist piano compositions.
The album’s title track has already been added to Spotify’s editorial New Music Friday Sweden, and the first single, ‘THINGS I COULD’VE LEFT BEHIND’, received early and significant support from esteemed public radio pillars NPR Music, KCRW, and KEXP 90.3 FM. This momentum is a strong indicator of the transformative work contained within.
Encapsulating the spirit of the entire album is the focus track and accompanying video, ‘RIVER’. The song is nebulous yet precise, shuffling through hazy, wistful R&B-tinged sounds driven by intricate experimental production. Fans of James Blake, Sampha, and Blood Orange will find a new favorite in Olovson’s quiet yet potent vocal delivery.
The visual for ‘RIVER’ is a testament to Olovson’s multifaceted artistry. Directed, edited, and shot entirely on an iPhone by the composer himself, the video is a beautiful stop-motion vignette. It features a puppet figure moving quietly through a forest, gathering twigs to build a raft, and eventually floating away along a river—a simple, earnest portrayal of the song’s themes of letting go and moving on.
The Journey of Letting Go
Olovson reveals the heart of the project is a journey from confrontation to peace:
“The album takes you from track 1 (‘THINGS I COULD’VE LEFT BEHIND’) where you’ve held on to baggage and it’s too heavy to carry any longer so you make the decision to face it and put down your baggage,” Olovson divulged. “All the way to the last track (‘FLOWERS TOLD ME SO’) where nature… gives us peace in telling us everything will move on, everything will grow again, everything is moving on and so should you.”
Having spent his early teens recording original compositions and later having his track ‘Books Are Flying’ featured in the SHOWTIME series The Man Who Fell to Earth (plus a BAFTA-qualifying film festival nomination for the ‘Gyroscope’ visual), Olovson has clearly mastered the art of sound. With UNTANGLE, he has now proven he is ready to take his place not just behind the scenes, but front and center.
